CONTRIBUTE TO THE CPA-PAC; RECEIVE A GIFT!

The CPA-PAC is the Texas Society of CPA’s member-driven political action committee. To ensure that the accounting profession continues having a strong presence in Texas' legislative and regulatory activities, as many individuals as possible must be involved in the political process. The most effective way to support this group is to make a contribution.

When El Paso Chapter members Contribute $50 or more before October 31, they will receive a 1G USB drive branded with a CPA logo! One side of the pull-apart tool houses a USB flash drive while the other side contains a push button laser pointer. This is a great resource for presentations on the go!

Supplies are limited so be sure to contact the El Paso Chapter's Executive Director after making your contribution.

To make your contribution go to the State Society's website at http://www.tscpa.org/gvt/cpapac/ and click on the yellow "Donate Now" button.

    CPAs HELPING SCHOOLS GOLF TOURNAMENT

The CPAs Helping Schools Golf Tournament will be held this year on Friday, October 23, 2009, at the Butterfield Trail Golf Club. Over the past 14 years, the Chapter has raised almost $37,000 for scholarships with most of it coming from the golf tournament.

Here are two great participation opportunities.
The first is putting together a team with members of your firm or company. Feel free to also include clients which provides a great way to enhance CPA/client relationships.

The second is serving as a sponsor of the tournament. There are many levels of sponsorship ranging from $50 up to $1,500.

Please visit our website's home page at www.ep-tscpa.org to download a copy of the participation form.

For more information, contact either Robert Diaz at 843-1040, e-mail rdiazcpa@aol.com; or Ricardo Porras at 544-6770, e-mail rporras@sbngcpa.com.

    NEWS FROM TSCPA

    TSCPA Health Insurance Option

TSCPA members and their families have access to the TSCPA High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) that offers flexibility in choosing care providers, affordable options, and the opportunity to open a Health Savings Account (HSA). An HSA is a portable savings account in which you can make deposits on a pre-tax basis. When you need money to pay for your qualified medical expenses, including your deductibles, copays and other eligible expenses not covered by your HDHP, you simply withdraw it from your HSA — tax-free. To enroll, visit www.tscpainsure.com.

    Accounting Career Education (ACE)

Plans are underway for another successful year of accounting career education. TSCPA has sent information to its chapters regarding opportunities to get involved in this year's program. Individual members are encouraged to speak to classes or participate in career fairs.

Please be sure to let your chapter know about your activities so that efforts are coordinated for maximum effectiveness.
