    NEWS FROM THE EL PASO CHAPTER

    NOVEMBER CHAPTER MEETING

    The November 24th, 2009, meeting of the El Paso Chapter - TSCPA will
    feature Dr. Terry Glandon who is a professor at the University of Texas at El Paso. Her presentation will focus on advanced features of Microsoft PowerPoint software. For more presentation information, please visit our home page at www.ep-tscpa.org.

    The November chapter meeting is a joint meeting with the American Society of Women Accountants (ASWA). Both societies will announce their annual scholarship winners to the members.

    For reservations, please call Jennifer Hennessey at 833-3616, or e-mail eptscpa@att.net. The meeting will be held at the Camino Real Hotel beginning at 11:30 a.m. The cost for lunch and parking in the hotel garage is $17.


    YOUNG CPAs MEET THE PARTNERS EVENT

    CPAs HELPING SCHOOLS - ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT

    Congratulations to GP Capital Management who won this year's annual golf tournament! The event was held at the beautiful Butterfield Trail Golf Club on Friday, October 23rd. The weather was beautiful, the golfing was challenging and the food was great. But most importantly, the fund raiser's goal is to raise scholarship funds...... so the chapter is excited to announce this year's UTEP scholarship winners at the November chapter meeting. Don't miss out on this fun meeting.

    Practice Management Institute

    TSCPA is devoted to helping Texas CPA firms address their most pressing practice management issues. One of the foremost of those issues is succession planning.

    TSCPA has a special arrangement with the Succession Institute for TSCPA members only. Members get access to a free course on succession planning, as well as a substantial discount on a variety of other practice management CPE courses.     Financial Literacy

    Do you enjoy speaking about personal finance and small business topics? If so, sign up for TSCPA’s speakers bureau. TSCPA is looking for CPAs to speak at community and civic programs and to the media. There are talking points, speeches and PowerPoint presentations to make each speaking opportunity as easy as possible. The speakers bureau is one way for CPAs to become involved in TSCPA’s ongoing 360 Degrees of Financial Literacy effort. To volunteer, contact Avery Roth.
